Since opening in 1986, Bavarian Inn Lodge has played an integral role in defining Frankenmuth as a year-round tourism destination. What began as a family-friendly lodging option has grown into a nationally recognized resort hotel, welcoming generations of guests from across Michigan, the Midwest, and beyond.
40 Years of Growth at Bavarian Inn Lodge
When Bavarian Inn Lodge first opened in February 1986, the property had 100 guestrooms, Oma’s Restaurant, the Lorelei Lounge, Martha’s Gift Shop, a game room, and an indoor pool and whirlpool.
Over the past four decades, Bavarian Inn Lodge has expanded its offerings to meet the evolving needs of travelers while staying true to its Bavarian-inspired roots. Early expansions included additional guest rooms and the Conference & Banquet Center, positioning the Lodge as a premier destination for corporate meetings, weddings, conventions, and special events in Frankenmuth.
Additional enhancements, such as expanded on-site dining options and a Family Fun Center, have helped establish Bavarian Inn Lodge as a family vacation destination, conveniently offering entertainment, relaxation, and dining all in one place. After the Family Fun Center opened, the Bavarian Inn Perks Club was introduced to reward guests with exclusive discounts, special perks, and enhanced benefits throughout their visit.
Bavarian Blast Waterpark: A Major Milestone Expansion
A defining chapter in the Lodge’s history is the introduction of Bavarian Blast Waterpark, Michigan’s Biggest Indoor Waterpark and Family Fun Center! The indoor waterpark features Michigan’s first adult swim-up bar, innovative waterslides, relaxing poolside spaces, and family-friendly attractions. The opening of Bavaria Blast Waterpark truly elevated their guest experience with cutting-edge attractions designed for all ages.
