At the Castle Shop Bakery, we have the right treats to satisfy your sweet tooth! We’re located in the lower level of the Bavarian Inn Restaurant and are easy to find. Just follow the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries. Below are a few of our favorite items, which are homemade and have no added preservatives!
Savory Treats
Cheese Crusty Bread – This artisan-style bread is baked in a hot steaming oven. It has a gracious amount of mozzarella and parmesan cheese swirled into the center of the loaf, forming a bubbly, mouth-watering crust when baked. Makes the best grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches! Also make delicious bruschetta bread and croutons.
Cheese & Onion Cobblestone Bread – A rich homemade bread that is hand chopped into pieces and infused with cheddar cheese and onion before baking. It creates a great texture and flavor enhancer for any kind of sandwich. Also available in Jalapeno Cheddar with a slight amount of heat but not overpowering.
Tasty Sweets
Stollen – Our Bavarian Inn signature product. Stollen was traditionally a German bread eaten during the Christmas season but soon became a favorite and is now offered year-round. This homemade specialty is a sweet bread filled with dried, candied fruit of pineapple, red and green cherries, raisins, cashew nuts, spices, and citrus zest. Delicious all alone or toasted with just a little butter. This is the original recipe just like Dorothy made at home! Available in 2 sizes and either with or without icing.
Apple or Cherry Strudel – European influenced, Bavarian Inn perfected! A German favorite with a generous amount of either a homemade apple or cherry filling loaded into a puff pastry that is baked hot until it is golden brown. Apple strudel is dusted with powdered sugar and the Cherry strudel is drizzled with icing. A must try!
Butterhorns – A “melt in your mouth,” buttery, homemade dough filled with the perfect blend of brown sugar, pecans and almond flavoring that is hand rolled into a crescent and dipped in icing and topped with more pecans. One just isn’t enough. Available in a 6 pack or individual. Also available in a raspberry cream cheese version.
Cinnamon Crunch Bread – A fun pull apart style bread loaded with cinnamon and sugar. Topped with a cinnamon sugar crunch and sweet icing this is soon to be a favorite of yours. Available with or without raisins. Try it warm, as is, or make the most amazing French toast ever!
Jam – The taste of fresh ripe fruit is captured in each of our homemade jams. Made in small batches, with only simple ingredients, you won’t be disappointed. Available in 5 flavors; Strawberry Rhubarb, Cherry Rhubarb, Blackberry Rhubarb, Blueberry Rhubarb and Peach. 3 sizes to choose from; 4 oz, 10 oz and a pint. Seasonal flavors also available using in season fruit such as Strawberry Lemonade, Summer Berry, Spiced Peach and Winterberry.
Other Desserts – We also have several pies to choose from including traditional apple, cherry, lemon meringue, banana cream and our favorite apple kuchen which is a flaky crust layered with sweet cream cheese and apples then topped with an oatmeal crunch. We also have homemade custard filled eclairs dipped in chocolate ganache, three kinds of brownies, carrot cake, turnovers (apple, cherry, raspberry), muffins, cinnamon rolls, caramel pecan rolls, decorated cookies and so much more! We even have freshly made treats for Fido!
