It’s not easy being (ever)green!
We love Christmas here at the Bavarian Inn. And we love decorating! This is fortunate, because it takes a lot of work to get everything in place. Making it look magical doesn’t happen by magic alone!
How long!?
Think about how long it takes you to decorate for Christmas!
So, how much time does it take to decorate Bavarian Inn for Christmas? This is a question we get asked all the time. So, here’s the timeframe:
- 8 hours to decorate the tree in the lobby (Yup, a whole workday!)
- An additional day for the remainder of the lobby
- 2 additional days to decorate the rest of the Bavarian Inn Lodge
- Plus additional time for other trees and the conference center
Who decorates?
The leader of the Christmas décor is Toni, one of our housekeeping supervisors, and she is in charge of decorating year-round. However, Toni gets extra help because Christmas entails so much decorating. We think Toni does a fantastic job!
It takes a (Christmas) village
It takes many departments to get Bavarian Inn ready for the holidays. In addition to Housekeeping, we also have other departmental volunteers help with decorating. Maintenance also has many specialized jobs in helping too.

How do you reach that high?
We decorate the tree with the help of a scissor lift. Yes, decorating is serious business!
The decorations
There are all sorts of décor at Bavarian Inn! The decorations are carefully selected each year. In addition, a few things are handmade by Toni, such as the bows.
What decorations can you expect to see at Bavarian Inn at Christmastime? Decorations include ornament bulbs, ribbons, flowers, angels, stars, and multi-colored lights and white lights. Both are great for lighting up the season.
Mixing it up with color
Red and green, along with white and gold, are the traditional colors at Christmastime. We fully embrace this tradition. But we also like to mix it up and make things special from year to year!
Each Christmas at Bavarian Inn is a little different when it comes to the décor. We emphasize different colors, even at Christmas, to keep it fresh and interesting. Red and green are always present, but we incorporate many different colors into the palette and it changes from year to year.
While our decorations will always have that Bavarian Christmas touch, you’ll never know exactly what to expect each year! For instance, our Candy Land display outside the front entrance!
Dressed for the occasion
Our staff wears seasonal accessories fitting with the Christmas season. During the weekends in December, and the week of Christmas, all the staff wears “Holiday Head Gear” of Santa hats, reindeer antlers, bows, and more. We have fun with it!
Special Christmas activities for the family
There are special family activities planned in our Lounge area from 6-8 p.m.
What does the Bavarian Inn look like right now?
We’re not like most places that replace Halloween decorations with Christmas décor the following day. But don’t worry! The anticipated Christmas decorations are up in December!
