Meet the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge’s mascot family! These friends of ours play a key role in making Bavarian Blast an enchanting experience for young and old! If you have ever wondered how they came to be a part of the Bavarian Inn Lodge family, keep reading!
Willy the Dragon
Willy the Dragon, who stands proudly over Willy’s Waves, our HUGE Wave Pool, rules over Willy’s Kingdom in the Family Fun Center and is the official mascot for the Bavarian Inn Lodge. But before he took on this role with the Bavarian Inn Zehnder Family in 1999, he lived in Drachtenmuth with many other mystical creatures. Between enchanted walks through the Bavarian Alps to fishing in the crystalline lakes, his life in Drachtenmuth was nothing short of magical. Until one fateful day, during one of Willy’s fishing trips in the Rhine River, he encountered a mythical siren named Lorelei, who spoke of a faraway land called Frankenmuth. As she spoke of the enchanting town, Willy’s curious spirit grew, and so he set off on a new adventure to explore the land for himself. He flew over majestic mountains, sailed across seas, and finally arrived at his destination, where the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge awaited him. From the moment Willy landed on the banks of the Cass River, he felt at home. Willy quickly discovered new favorite pastimes: playing his alpine horn in Bavarian Blast for all guests to hear, delivering his famous cookies to Lodge guests, and hosting birthday parties for his guests.
Greta the Dragon
Greta the Dragon is the majestic keeper of the lush garden that surrounds Greta’s River Run, our not-so-lazy river in Bavarian Blast. Renowned for her extraordinary green thumb, Greta’s Garden flourishes with vibrant flowers and exotic plants from every corner of the world. If not tending to her sanctuary, she can be found floating down the not-so-lazy river, picking fresh flowers with her friend Bertina the butterfly, or crafting a variety of specialty fudge flavors for her guests in the Ratskeller!
Goldie the Goldfish
Meet Goldie, the fastest swimmer in a quaint pond located in the heart of Bavaria. The little goldfish possesses a great spirit of adventure and an insatiable curiosity about the world beyond his pond. Tales from migrating birds spoke of a unique village called Frankenmuth. They described it as a place with charming buildings, German cuisine, and a river that ran through it, beckoning Goldie to visit. Driven by his curious spirit, Goldie set his sights on this distant village. His journey was long, but his swift nature allowed him to make progress that others might have found impossible. Finally, Goldie arrived in Frankenmuth. He knew that he had found a new home, and with it, a new family at the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge. Today, Goldie spends most days zipping down the thrilling water slides at Bavarian Blast. He loves the slides so much that the Bavarian Inn Zehnder family named a slide after him: Goldie’s Glider!
Puddles the Bird
Meet Puddles, the multicolored bird who resides at the top of the tipping bucket in Bavarian Blast Waterpark. Puddles begins the day bright and early each morning with a leisurely sunrise flight! Gliding across the Cass River, he greets his fish friends and awaits the moment when Bavarian Blast reopens for the day. He then spends the rest of the day flying down the slides throughout Puddle Platz, taking in the views of Bavarian Blast perched on top of the tipping bucket tower, and ending the night with a warm bird bath in the family indoor-outdoor spa!
Schnitz & Fritz the Weiner Dogs
Meet Schnitz and Fritz, the dynamic duo of Bavarian Blast! Whether they are racing each other down the dual mat racing slides or sniffing for a snack at Chef Willy’s, the pair are always up to something exciting! The pairing joined the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge family at the annual Frankenmuth Dog Bowl many years ago. The brothers came all the way from Germany, to participate in the annual Wiener Dog Race! Soon after their arrival, they lined up at the starting line, determined to give it their best shot. They dashed down the track, their ears flapping in the wind, and tails wagging behind them, giving it their all. As they crossed the finish line the two both took the win, tying for first! They celebrated their win at the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge with their friends Willy and Greta the Dragons! From that day on their love for Frankenmuth has only grown!
Bertina the Butterfly
In a lush meadow, adorned with multicolored flowers and tall willow trees, lived a butterfly named Bertina. One day, as Bertina began her morning excursion across the meadow, a strong wind swept her up and carried her far from home. Before she knew it, she found herself in a place unlike any she had ever seen. As she began to regain her balance, she noticed a beautiful dragon tending to a garden in the distance. Bertina flew toward her, gracefully landed on one of the nearby lilies, and introduced herself. The dragon, cautiously picked her up, bringing her to eye level, and introduced herself as Greta. The two bonded over their shared love for flowers and soon became best friends. Today, Bertina calls Greta’s Garden her home. She often spends her days flying above the lily pads or smelling the various flowers in Greta’s Garden
Whether you’re floating down Greta’s River Run or racing down the slides with Schnitz and Fritz, the magic of the Bavarian Inn Lodge mascot family is always nearby, waiting to welcome you with open wings, paws, and claws. So next time you visit, be sure to say hello—they can’t wait to meet you!
