Today’s Christmas feature is back at the Bavarian Inn Lodge. I headed upstairs to the 2nd level to shoot the Christmas decoration above the Front Desk area. Here we have the traditional German upside down Christmas tree, a ton of Christmas decorations that really have a lot of color and light. This shoot was a bit different and concentrated on creating an interesting effect called Bokeh. Bokeh according to Dictionary.com is a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image. When is this used best, there are droplets of light that when focused on an object close to the camera, the lights become blurred and become round large dots of light and sometime have shapes. With Christmas lights everywhere, this effect can be created easier than at other times. Actually, this is the first time I’ve experimented with this kind of camera effect. Hopefully you enjoy as much as I did.
